F.A.Q
Will the procedure hurt?
Some people, though not all, experience a mild soreness when the probe comes into contact with a sensitive area such as going over an area multiple times. All Micropigmentation patients will receive an application of a numbing cream over the area prior to the commencement of their treatment.
Ladies who are particularly stressed and those in the middle of their monthly cycles may experience a heightened degree of sensitivity and we urge patients to book their appointments around any specific times such as job interviews, exam results etc.
How long will the procedure last?
The total time you should allow for the whole procedure, including your consultation would be estimated at two hours but patients must also be aware that occasionally, procedures do sometimes over run and we advise patients to allow three hours as a maximum time allowance.
Can I stop the procedure if I need a break between brows?
Yes. You may stop the procedure if you require a comfort break, but please bear in mind that the procedure should be completed within a set time frame to allow for even distribution of pigments.
Can the pigments be removed?
The pigments can easily be removed but please bear in mind that the initial appearance of the skin does not represent how the pigments will disperse and settle within the epidermis. As such, the initial appearance of the brows/lips do not portray the final result, as this can only be viewed 3 – 4 weeks post procedure.
What if I’ve chosen a colour that’s too pale, can I have the procedure repeated with a darker shade?
Yes. However, you must wait at least one month to allow the healing process to take place and ensure that the pigments within the skin have been given the appropriate timeframe to resurface completely. Having a procedure repeated may incur some additional costs if a timeframe of over 6 months has elapsed.
Your technician will have advised you about the colour displacement and how the pigments tend to fade between 30% and 40%. With this in mind, the shade you wish for as a final result should always be slightly darker than the one initially applied.
What should I expect when I view my results for the first time?
Patients should always be aware that upon initial viewing, the pigments may appear ‘bright’ and ‘prominent’. Some patients may display some swelling in the affected areas along with some reddening indicative of increased blood flow to the site.
The majority of patients tend to view their results at an incorrect distance by inspecting the area(‘s) too closely with a mirror. The ideal distance to view the work undertaken is at arms length as this is the normal distance others tend to see us.
After a brief period, usually by the end of the procedure, the skin will have begun the natural process of healing, and the affected areas may display signs of ‘crusting over’.
